Stockholm is the capital and the largest city of Sweden. It was built on 14 islands in the east of Sweden where the Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea. Known as the “Gamla Stan”, the city’s Old Town is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in the world. Notable buildings of the Old Town include the German Church, Tyska kyrkan, and the House of Nobles, Riddarhuset. There are two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the city – the Royal Palace Drottningholm and the Skogskyrkogarden (The Woodland Cemetery). There are also 100 museums to visit in Stockholm.
