County Cork is the most southerly county in Ireland and the largest. The jagged coastline is famed for its magnificent scenery and West Cork is renowned for its wild, rugged beauty. Charming towns, including Cobh, Midleton, Kinsale and Youghal, dot the coastline. Cork city is the third largest city in Ireland. It was built on swampy estuary of the River Lee and over the years the city has climbed up the steep banks of the river. The English Market and St. Finn Barre’s Cathedral are well worth a visit. Cork city was also the European Capital of Culture in 2005.
