The United Arab Emirates is a Middle Eastern federation of seven states including Dubai. It is located in the southeast of the Arabian Peninsula in southwest Asia. The coastline has many coral reefs and shifting sandbars and in many places is overlooked by towering mountains. Inland you will find vast deserts and oases with underground water. Although a Muslim country, the UAE is probably the most liberal Middle Eastern federation.
